Acoustic Energy unleashes AE Sub active subwoofer

Acoustic Energy has unveiled its AE Sub active subwoofer, designed to integrate with both the company’s 100 and 300 Series loudspeakers.

Utilising a 250W (RMS) amplifier mated to a 305mm, long-excursion, doped and stiffened pulp-fibre driver, the AE Sub delivers a claimed 26Hz at -6dB and AE says that its compact cabinet: “houses the amplifier and driver in an optimally tuned enclosure for fast, deep and tuneful bass”.

The AE Sub provides stereo line-level, LFE and high-level speaker inputs. An adjustable low pass filter (40-120Hz) and phase control (0-180°), while volume control allows for integration with: “any loudspeaker in any room”. In addition, the AE Sub’s auto on/off feature detects an incoming signal and powers on automatically.

It comes supplied with carpet-piercing spikes and fitted rubber caps for use on hard flooring, measures 360 x 360 x 360mm (WxHxD), weighs 16.5kg and is available in Matte Black or Matte White.

Available to buy now for £700, you can find out more about the Acoustic Energy AE Sub here.
