Bose introduces new SoundLink around-ear headphones
Bose's latest headphone release – the SoundLink around-ear wireless headphones II – is described by the company as "Offering the best sound quality of any wireless headphone available with a whole new kind of wireless experience". Built for use out and about, the headphones have 'multi-point' for hook up to two devices, boast quick-pairing with NFC technology and claim a 15 hour battery life.
The SoundLink® around-ear wireless headphones II use proprietary technologies, including active equalisation and new volume-optimised equalisation, so that music should retain detail no matter what the volume. There are no manufactured boosts because they’re not needed for impact. What you hear, claims Bose, is as close as possible to what was recorded, rather than re-created or altered.
“We’ve never adjusted how a piece of music will sound when it’s reproduced because it’s not our music – it’s the artist’s music and it’s your music – and our job is to make it sound as good as it can,” says Bernice Cramer, general manager of Bose Wireless Headphones.
As previously mentioned, the rechargeable battery provides up to 15 hours of use from a single charge and if you're in a hurry, a quick 15-minute charge will provide up to two hours of play time through the included USB cable. Multi-point connectivity allows you to stay simultaneously connected to two devices, making it possible to listen to music on your tablet and take or make a call on your phone. Pairing is just a case of tapping the right earcup to pair for NFC-enabled devices, or alternatively use Bluetooth. There are also controls on the headphone’s earcup for controlling music and taking calls and there are voice prompts (available in 11 different languages) to tell you who’s calling, what device you’re connected to and how much battery you have left.
The design of the SoundLink headphones is inspired by Bose's QC 25 cans, and they use impact-resistant materials including glass-filled nylon and corrosion-resistant stainless steel. They're claimed to be robust and able to survive the odd knock or being dropped. They’re also light and comfortable – weighing in at 198.4g – with soft ear cushions and a contoured headband. They fold flat for storage and a matching case is provided for protection when not in use.
The SoundLink around-ear headphones II can also be partnered with a mobile phone and utilise an advanced microphone system, HD voice and adaptive audio adjustment technology to minimise the effects of wind or background noise. Volume is changed automatically based on speech level and changing environments, letting you move from a quiet building to a busy street without missing a word or fumbling for controls.
The SoundLink® wireless headphones II are available in a choice of black or white finishes now for £239.95. You can find out more and where your nearest Bose dealer is over on the Bose website.
