FiiO unveils SP3 BT active loudspeaker

Building upon its original SP3 desktop speaker, FiiO has launched the SP3 BT. Available in either Black or White finishes, the SP3 BT delivers a claimed output of 2x 30W + 2x 10W. It has added USB-C, coaxial and optical inputs to the existing stereo RCA and a 3.5mm line-in on the original SP3. The optical input supports PCM files up to 24-bit/96kHz and the USB-C and coaxial up to 32-bit/96kHz.

Bluetooth connectivity includes SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Low Latency alongside aptX Adaptive, aptX HD and LDAC. The speakers have been designed to work with the FiiO Control/FiiO Music mobile apps for iOS and Android, which allow fine-tuning of the sound via the 10-band Parametric EQ.

The speakers feature an 89mm Carbon-fibre mid/bass driver and 25mm silk tweeter. As with the original, the SP3 BT utilises a double-diffused S-shaped porting tube, which FiiO says: “allows the speakers to remain compact while reproducing a deep, punchy bass. Bass extension and control is enhanced, resulting in fast bass transients and superior audio quality at lower frequencies.”

The SP3 BTs come supplied with two sets of silicone stands. One allows the speakers to be positioned with 0° elevation, while the other gives the speakers a 7° front-facing incline. As they are made of silicone they also act as vibration absorbers.

The SP3 BTs feature LED lights that illuminate the bottom of the cabinets when powered on. Using the button on the rear of the speakers, 24 different colours can be chosen from or the lights can be turned off.

The speakers measure 120 x 163 x 132mm, 120 x 170 x 132mm (with 0° Flat Base) and 120 x 182 x 132mm (with 7° Elevated Base). They weigh 1.95kg per cabinet.

Available to buy now for £320, you can find out more about the FiiO SP3 BT here.
