ModalAkustik debuts MusikBoxx standmount speaker
ModalAkustik has unveiled its new MusikBoxx standmount with external MusikCrss crossover. Featuring a light-coned Dipole AMT tweeter from Mundorf, Accuton ceramic mid/bass driver from Thiel & Partner and a closed cabinet made of acrylic ribs braced in opposite directions with steel struts, the MusikBoxx comes with a matching stand in a resonance-optimised tripod design with little contact surface for sound waves that can be fitted with either spikes or absorber feet.
The crossover is housed in an external acrylic enclosure protected against vibrations and equipped with Mundorf components and WBT terminals. Separate driver connections also allow active operation via an external DSP crossover.
The MusikBoxx measures 220mm without the tweeter (315mm with), is 215mm wide and 280mm deep without the speaker terminals. It weighs 7.9kg and is priced at €4,900 per pair. The MusikCrss external crossover measures 210 x 66 x 282mm (WxHxD), weighs 3.4kg and is priced at €2,300 per pair. The tripod stand is 727mm tall and is priced at €900 per pair.
