Pro-Ject Audio Systems, the Austrian analogue audio specialist, has announced the release of a new addition to its Box Design range, the Stereo Box E which is introduced as an affordable product located in the company’s roster just below the MaiA S3 (HFC 492) integrated amp.

Drawing on the MaiA S3 design, the Box E features a built-in DAC and moving-magnet phono stage, as well as a headphone amplifier and aptX HD-capable Bluetooth streaming input.

The Stereo Box E also boasts an analogue volume control with motor-driven potentiometer, three analogue and three digital inputs, a USB-C out to power modern compact streamers, isolated speaker outputs and a subwoofer out. It comes in a heavy-duty steel case with a brushed aluminium front panel and has a Control it 1 system remote control included.

Available in Black or Silver finish, Pro-Ject claims it’s: “the ideal starter amplifier for music lovers who want to take their listening experience to a new level with true, high-quality stereo sound”. It measures 206 x 51 x 115mm (WxHxD), weighs 2kg and is priced at £250.

The company is also offering pre-built system solutions combining complementary products into a ready-to-go hi-fi system, supplied in one box. The Stereo Box E is available in two matched Sets, exclusive to the UK market – the Stereo Set E1 combines the Stereo Box E with the matching E1 turntable and a pair of Speaker Box 5E speakers for a ready-to-play turntable-based system, available in black or walnut finish combinations, priced at £700; then there’s the CD Set E which combines the Stereo Box E with the matching CD Box E disc player and a pair of Speaker Box 3E Carbon speakers for a playback system that’s reminiscent of traditional midi hi-fi systems of yore. Supplied with a 25cm RCA cable, so the CD Box E can easily stack on the amplifier without excess wires getting in the way, this system is ready to play and costs £600.
