November 2026 issue now on sale

Welcome to the November 2026 issue!
This issue, even more than usual, deals with the difference between sound and noise; sound being stuff you want to hear, noise being stuff you don’t.

On p62, for instance, you’ll find our review of the Kimber Kable NEO-CU interconnect being distributed in the UK by Russ Andrews. This cable is the latest development in a long, concerted effort to make sure the music you hear from your hi-fi is presented with a purity that brings it as close as possible to the way the artists who recorded it intended. Russ Andrews is offering one of the cables, worth £5,400, as a prize in celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary. See if you can nab one on p103.

On the other hand, there’s an Opinion piece about how other people’s noise can disrupt your day. Whether it’s a berk on public transport playing music too loudly – sound becoming noise if you catch my drift – or just that shouty so-and-so on the phone. The argument goes, unless you can put up with such selfishness, you’d better arm yourself with the best noise-cancelling headphones your budget will allow.

Anti-social noise making has been among the most reported complaints to TfL (Transport for London). Guess how many culprits were actually fined the stipulated £1,000? See p76 for the answer.

Enjoy the issue!
