Canadian streaming specialist Bluesound has just launched its Powernode Edge, a single-zone, wireless music streaming, just-add-speakers amplifier. Rated at 2x 40W, the company says the DirectDigital amplifier in the Powernode Edge handles high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, supports MQA playback and comes with a multi-orientation wall bracket, which allows it to be hidden from view: “in closets or behind sofas… Easy to spec and simple to stack, home installers will appreciate its 1U rack height and half-rack width, along with an easy-access touch-control panel for everyday playback functions and configuration.”

Boasting access to over 20 natively integrated music services and thousands of internet radio stations, it’s operated using the BluOS Controller app and can play from a personal music library, via wi-fi, Gigabit Ethernet or from an external USB drive. Built-in AirPlay 2 makes for easy integration into the Apple ecosystem, while users of other devices can utilise the aptX HD Bluetooth to stream audio directly to it. More traditional wired sources, such as a TV or a preamped turntable can be connected using the HDMI eARC or combo analogue/digital input. The Powernode Edge can also integrate with other smart home controllers like Crestron, Control4, URC, RTI, ELAN etc. while hands-free control comes via voice assistants like Apple’s Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The Powernode Edge comes in a black or white finish.
