May issue now on sale
A month ago I kicked off my first Welcome column as HFC’s new editor with some words about the clocks springing forward and an urge to get out and about. How quickly things have changed!
Right now, at the time of writing this, most of us are hunkered down at home with no clear idea of when we might start to resume living our normal lives. In such an unprecedented situation, it strikes me that the role of HFC is to try and make the best of these tough times by cracking on and finding our readers ways to fill the many hours with as much fun as possible.
It may sound glib to say: “Hey, being stuck in our homes gives us more time to enjoy our hi-fi,” but the truth is music, and the many ways we experience it, is one of the most life-affirming and sharable pleasures we have at the moment. So here goes…
Within this issue, alongside our Group Test of music servers, in-depth look at the Arcam SA30 integrated amplifier and a review of the supreme Klipsch La Scala AL5 loudspeaker, you will find some thoughtful stuff on how to support your local record store during lockdown, the joyful rise of the online music festival and the remarkable cassette revival.
Oh, and don’t forget that, if getting to the shops is a problem at the moment, we have a great ‘stay@home’ subs offer on the website .
Until the next issue, stay safe and connected
