dCS Audio unleashes Varèse music system

dCS Audio says its new Varèse music system is its most advanced to date, offering a level of performance beyond anything it’s ever created. “At the same time,” the UK company adds: “it brings a simpler, more intuitive user experience and an ambitious design that marries cutting-edge mechanics and hardware with a striking and tactile form”.

The Varèse Music System comprises five components: Core, two Mono DACs (one for each channel), User Interface and a Master Clock. It also includes a dedicated remote control and a new dCS Mosaic ACTUS app. A dedicated CD/SACD Transport will also be available from next year.

dCS explains that the Varèse utilises a suite of new technologies including dCS Tomix (its new clocking technology), ACTUS (its bespoke interface that carries audio, control and timing signals between components) and the Differential Ring DAC (a new version of the dCS Ring DAC). The Varèse also boasts several mechanical and electronic innovations, from new circuit design to enhanced power supplies. The benefits of these advancements according to the company are that jitter has been further reduced and linearity has been increased, while the noise floor has been lowered and crosstalk eliminated.

Prices for the music system are as follows: Varèse Core: £75,000, Varèse User Interface: £20,000, Varèse Mono DAC: £90,000 (pair), Varèse Master Clock: £32,500.
