Welcome to the March 2025 issue!
There are two species of hi-fi nut. Well actually, in all honesty, there are actually loads but, for the sake of this argument, let’s just pretend there are two. First there are the experimenters, the explorers who boldly step into the unknown, happy to mismatch brands and compile systems from a variety of sources in the ever-evolving search for the perfect setup that suits their taste, listening room, ambitions and budget.

Then there are those who, bearing in mind precious time and cash spent, would rather go for something a little more surefire, a pre-selected arrangement that has been specifically designed so that each component complements one another and so ensures a winning match.

This month’s issue has been devised to bear both parties in mind – while there’s a choice of decks, amps, subwoofers and speakers which would be enormous fun to audition together for the former, there’s the cover star separates system from Pro-Ject for the latter – which has been assembled to work as an expandable, affordable whole.

So, hopefully we’ve covered all the bases for you with our constant proviso in mind – that every piece herein offers excellent value for money.
