KEF has released its eight-strong latest generation of the Q Series featuring Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which the company claims: “takes the performance of the latest 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array to another level in terms of accuracy and clarity”.

For improved detail and clarity, specific models within the range have been upgraded from a 2.5 to a three-way design, including the Q11 Meta, Q7 Meta, Q Concerto Meta and Q6 Meta (a centre for home cinema setups). This updated configuration separates the frequency ranges, with the Uni-Q driver handling the high and midrange alongside a newly designed bass driver dedicated to the low frequencies management.

The flagship Q11 Meta is a three-way floorstander that pairs the 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with three 165mm hybrid aluminium bass drivers. It has a quoted sensitivity of 89dB (4ohm) and costs £2,000.

Another three-way floorstander, the Q7 Meta reduces the bass drivers to two, giving 87dB (4ohm) sensitivity at a cost of £1,400. The three-way, £1,100 Q Concerto Meta standmount has the same drivers as its siblings, but with just one bass driver. Sensitivity is quoted as 85dB.

The Q3 Meta is a two-way bookshelf speaker that makes do with just the 12th generation Uni-Q driver array (25mm tweeter and 165mm mid/bass driver). It has a claimed 87dB sensitivity and costs £650. Costing £500, the compact two-way bookshelf Q1 Meta reduces the size of the mid/bass driver to 130mm and sensitivity to 86dB.
