Reimagining its hi-res streamingand wireless lineup, Bluesound – the Canadian multi-room music system specialist – unveils its Generation 2i (Gen 2i) platform, with extensive hardware and software updates. The comprehensive redesign sees updates in all Gen 2i models that includes dual-band wi-fi, AirPlay 2 support and two-way Bluetooth with aptX HD support. A 3. 0 version of its BluOS control app is included in the Node 2i network streamer (£499), Powernode 2i network streamer and amplifier – now with two Toslink/3.

Bob Dylan will be releasing the latest volume in his acclaimed bootleg series of previously unreleased studio recordings –including never-before-heard songs, outtakes, rehearsal tracks and alternate versions from theBringing It All Back Home,Highway 61 RevisitedandBlonde On BlondeSessions – on 6 November. Bob Dylan: The Best of The Cutting Edge 1965-1966, will be available in special double-CD and tripple-vinyl packages and focuses on the trilogy of albums that secured Dylan's reputation as a songwriter and performer of unprecedented depth. All recordings included are pristine transfers and mixed from the original studio tracking tapes. The packagecomes with an annotated book featuring hundreds of rare and never-before-seen photographs and memorabilia and new essays penned especially for the collection by Bill Flanagan and Sean Wilentz.

Bose introduces its new next-generation SoundTouch 10 speaker system. With built-in Bluetooth and wi-fi, the £169 loudspeaker connects directly to your portable devices straight from the box and is designed for instant music and multi-room listening. Using Bluetooth to stream any song, playlist or music service, you can then broadcast it via wi-fi to any number of SoundTouch 10 speakers. Alternatively, you can use the SoundTouch app (with music services Spotify and Deezer built in) to explore integrated music services, set up to six personalised presets to any music service playlist, artist or internet radio station and enjoy different music in multiple rooms.

Earlier in the summer, we visited B&W's impressive facility in Worthing (see Insider Feature in the October issue, on sale 14 September)to preview a new mid-priced series of loudspeakers being kept under wraps until now. The range, called the 700 Series, replaces the long-running CM Series with six new stereo models – three standmounts and three floorstanders – plus two dedicated centre channel models for fans of multi-channel setups. Unsurprisingly, it draws on the considerable expertise and technology established in the company's well-regarded high-end 800 Diamond Series and so employs Continuum midrange drivers. A new versionof the Aerofoil cone has also been developed, but the 700 Series design uses paper rather than carbon fibre skins with an EPS filling material adopted instead of syntactic foam.

Beyerdynamic’s new closed-design T 5 p headphone includes Tesla sound transducers for what it claims is a more spacious audio performance. Aside from hi-fisystem and headphone amplifier compatibility, the T 5 p’s electrical resistance of 32ohm also makes it the ideal partner, says the company, for portable audio devices including smartphones, tablets and hi-res music players. The cable is detachable and can be replaced with a longer version if required, while an option with a 4-pin XLR connectorfor balanced connections is also available. The headband and ear cups are made from artificial leather and the protein-coated surface promises a comfortable grip.
