Lithe Audio's Wi-Fi ceiling speaker
Described as an “all-in-one solution”, the driver units come with both amplifier (claiming 60W RMS) and wi-fi built-in, removing the need for speaker cables or separate AV components, making them easy to install or retro-fit.
Using AirPlay 2 alongside HomeKit and Siri, every compatible device in the house can become voice controlled, while Lithe Audio’s update adds Apple HomeKit compatibility to the Wi-Fi speaker, allowing users to create automations and link lighting, heating, security and audio through their iPhone, iPad or Mac computer. It also enables users to pair their music to play with motion sensors, pulse switches or alarm systems and you can ask Siri to turn on the lights, adjust the thermostat and select and play a songlist.
The Lithe Audio Wi-Fi speaker with AirPlay 2 is additionally available in an IP44 waterproof version for safe use in bathrooms. The frameless speakers are designed to ‘disappear’ into the ceiling, only protruding a mere 3mm. The magnetic grille covers can be removed for cleaning or for replacement with a different coloured finish or the grilles can be painted to match the décor of any room. Prices are £330 for a single speaker or £400 for a master and passive pair.
Available to buy now, the speakers are being distributed in the UK by Peter Tyson.
