Cambridge Audio introduces new AX Series
Consisting of a pair of CD players, two integrated amplifiers and a brace of stereo receivers, the AX range takes design and innovation cues from the company’s existing CX and Edge series components. The AXC25 (pictured) and AXC35 CD players are priced at £229 and £299 respectively and both models support CD-R, CD-RW and CD-ROM discs recorded with MP3 and WMA files, while the AXC35 adds a coaxial digital audio output.
The AXA25 integrated stereo amplifier (pictured, top) costs £229, claims a power output of 2x 25W into 8ohm and offers rotary tone controls. It is fitted with a 3.5mm input jack on the front panel, four stereo RCA inputs, a single stereo RCA output and a USB port for an optional Bluetooth receiver. The £299 AXA35 integrated amplifier sports the same number of inputs, but adds an MM phono stage and 6.35mm headphone output. It claims 2x 35W power output and incorporates a front panel display with touch-button controls.
Both stereo receivers come with built-in FM/AM tuners and Bluetooth receivers for wireless streaming, can drive two sets of speakers and have subwoofer preamp outputs. The £349 AXR85 claims a power output rated at 2x 85W, while the £449 AXR100 is rated at 2x 100W and adds one coaxial and two digital inputs. All AX series components are available now housed in black outer casings and finished with grey front panels. You can find out more about the new AX series here.
