Arcam’s new SA30 flagship amp
Today’s integrated amplifiers are far more versatile than they were even just a few years ago, with many designs including a digital source to access home networked music and external streaming music services too. Arcam’s newly announced SA30 integrated flagship is among this new breed of designs, and along with its Class G amplification technology that claims 2x 180W into 8ohm and 2x 220W into 4, it’s a UPnP streamer compatible with GoogleCast, AirPlay 2 and can be used as a Roon endpoint. MQA support is also on board, meaning it’s compatible with content from Tidal Masters.
Equipped with an ESS Sabre ESS9038 DAC chip, it can handle all digital signals – either via its internal digital connectivity or the four digital inputs for external sources on the rear. Five analogue inputs are also included along with a switchable moving-magnet/moving-coil phono stage input.
Dirac room correction software is also incorporated, enabling users to optimise the audio performance to whatever loudspeaker it is connected to or to suit the listening environment, while an HDMI ARC (audio return channel) socket is fitted for smooth TV integration. Expected to be available from the Autumn, keep an eye on the Arcam website for more details on the SA30.
