Auralic unveils Altair G2.1

Auralic has launched the Altair G2.1 Digital Audio Streamer, which the company reveals: “has been developed with properties and features that ensure its performance is considered next-level, and allow for it to be used as a standalone preamplifier”.

It features analogue volume control, similar to that on the company’s Vega G2.1 (HFC 476) and based on a resistive ladder design, designed to provide an ultra-quiet signal, no matter the input. Class A Orfeo output modules allow for an ultra-low-noise and low-distortion signal in the analogue domain. Altair G2.1 also houses two separate all-analogue inputs, completely bypassing the digital structure and maintaining a pure analogue signal from input to out. The first is a line-level analogue input, including home theatre bypass and the second is an in-house engineered moving-magnet phono stage for: “an elegant, direct and quiet connection to a turntable”.

The Altair G2.1 can be controlled by Lightning DS (on Apple iOS devices), is also compatible with other OpenHome-based control software and is Roon ready. It can additionally deliver a growing number of streaming services such as Qobuz, Tidal and Spotify Connect with more to be added in the near future.

The streamer utilises the most powerful of the Tesla platforms, while dual femto second clocks deliver precisely timed signals to reduce associated jitter.

The build includes Unity Chassis II, a stealth-silent aluminium enclosure encapsulating a copper sub-enclosure that protects the advanced internal electronics from outside interference, an aluminium base and a six-spring suspension footer system.

The Altair G2.1 Digital Audio Streamer is available to buy now for £4,600 and you can find out more about it here.
