Clearaudio adds Active to Concept turntable range
German Audio specialist Clearaudio has received many accolades for its belt-drive Concept packaged turntable. Hoping to attract new audiences, a recently announced Active version comes with the same multi-layer plinth construction and innovative magnetic tonearm bearings (designed to dispel any issues of bearing friction and noise), and aims to take the ‘concept’ of its plug ‘n’ play deck further by including a built-in phono stage and headphone amplifier with its own volume control.
Available pre-installed with the company’s own Concept V2 moving-magnet cartridge – priced from £2,000 for black or silver plinth finishes or an extra £460 for light or dark Baltic birch wood finishes – or Concept MC moving-coil cartridge – which adds £410 and £910 respectively to the base price for the same finish options. Clearaudio’s new Smart Power 12V DC PSU can be included for an additional £630.
