Focal unveils Vestia speaker range
The aforementioned Slatefiber cone is made from recycled carbon fibres and Focal has also chosen a 25mm ‘M’-shaped dome TAM tweeter for the treble. Initially developed for its car collection, this exclusive tweeter has been revamped to work for hi-fi speakers, and now makes its first appearance in products for the home. The speakers also feature a port at the front for more forward impact and a rear port for what the company describes as an encompassing bass.
The compact two-way bookshelf Vestia No1 pairs the TAM tweeter with a 165mm mid/bass driver to give a claimed sensitivity of 89.5dB (8ohm). It measures 219 x 387 x 260mm (WxHxD), weighs 7kg and is priced at £800 per pair. The three-way floorstanding No2 has the same TAM tweeter, a single 165mm midband and two 165mm Slatefiber drivers, for a claimed sensitivity of 91.5dB (8ohm). It measures 256 x 1,012 x 371mm (WxHxD), weighs 22kg and is priced at £1,800 per pair. The three-way floorstanding No3 adds an additional 165mm Slatefiber bass driver to the mix, giving it extra bass and claimed sensitivity of 92dB (8ohm). It measures 256 x 1,122 x 375mm (WxHxD), weighs 26.5kg and costs £2,400 per pair. Finally, the three-way floorstanding No4 partners the 25mm TAM tweeter and 165mm midband driver with two 210mm Slatefiber bass drivers, offering 92dB sensitivity. It measures 304 x 1,126 x 430mm (WxHxD), weighs 31.5kg and will set you back £2,600. Matching stands are additionally available at £300 per pair.
