JBL lets rip with Boombox 3 Wi-Fi and Charge 5 Wi-Fi wireless speakers
The company explains: “Self-tuning automatically detects when you’re in a new environment, so you know the sound will be optimised, no matter if you’re listening in or outdoors. With AirPlay 2, Alexa MRM and Chromecast built-in over wi-fi, connect and stream from your favourite music service.”
The Charge 5 Wi-Fi offers a quoted 20 hours of playback, while the Boombox 3 Wi-Fi claims 24 hours. The Boombox 3 Wi-Fi is also the first JBL portable speaker with Dolby Atmos for a more spatial and immersive sound experience.
The new speakers both come in a black finish with gold details and both cabinet casings are made from 90 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, while the speaker grille is made from 100 percent recycled fabric. The packaging is made from FSC-certified paper and printed with soy ink. Both enclosures are water and dustproof.
The JBL Boombox 3 Wi-Fi is a three-way speaker system consisting of subwoofer, two midrange drivers and two tweeters, while the JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi boasts an excursion driver and a separate tweeter with two passive bass radiators. For additional connectivity and functionality, there’s the JBL One app.
The JBL Boombox 3 Wi-Fi is priced at £230, the Charge 5 Wi-Fi at £550.
