Monitor Audio unleashes Studio 89 loudspeaker
The Studio 89 is housed in a strong and rigid cabinet, which features an 18mm front baffle with 5mm side walls. Precisely calculated and positioned internal walls provide additional strength and bracing; their configuration designed to allow airflow to funnel via the top and bottom of the cabinet through the high-velocity HiVe II slot ports, reducing potential turbulence and air noise. Sensitivity is quoted as 86dB with a nominal impedance of 6ohm.
The company explains the cabinet design: “works in perfect harmony with the drive units and crossover – a total system, delivering on Monitor Audio’s Transparent Design Philosophy, an R&D philosophy of maintaining a balance between Design and Technology. One is never allowed to over power the other and both play a vital role in delivering on the promise of musical neutrality and acoustic transparency.”
Taking its inspiration from the original Studio 15, Studio 89 comes in a high-gloss black finish, coupled with metal cone drivers finished in gold. Also available for £500 are dedicated Studio 89 Stands. The top plate of these is laser-cut steel, the pole is extruded aluminium and the base is die-cast aluminium. The four adjustable feet are supplied with both chrome-plated spikes for carpeted floors and domed rubber feet for hard floors.
Available to buy now for £2,000, you can find out more about the Monitor Audio Studio 89 here.
