MrSpeakers release new Ether headphones
MrSpeakers has teamed up with headphone designer, Bruce Thigpen (founder of Eminent Technology), to produce the Ether, a new planar-driven open-backed, on-ear headphone.
The Ether makes use of patent-pending V-Planar technology that – it’s claimed – can not only push more air at low frequencies, but with greater acceleration also “deliver better dynamics, high-end frequency response and measurably lower distortion”. The 2.75 x 1.75in single-ended planar drivers have a claimed 96dB/mW efficiency and 23ohm impedance.
The Italian leather with micro-suede headband is made from heat-treated NiTinol (Nickel-Titanium alloy), with a new, flat earpad to partly reduce the size of the headphone and provide what’s claimed is a more successful seal to the ear in order to reduce noise pollution. Ether comes with 1.8m or 3m cables with 6.3mm or 3.5mm jack and four-pin XLR connectors. The advanced design has an upgraded fabric-laced cable. the standard model is available now for £1,150, while the advanced cable-sporting model will set you back £1,250. Find out more here.
