Neat Acoustics introduces new Ekstra floorstanding loudspeaker
The mid/bass drive unit on the front of the cabinet is a treated paper cone with a flared profile as found on the company’s popular Motive and Iota Alpha loudspeaker designs, partnered to what the company describes as a carefully judged crossover network that offers superb integration with the ribbon-type high-frequency unit. The cabinet’s ported lower section has one bass driver located on the base panel of the cabinet facing the floor, while the second is located within the cabinet, directly above the first in a sealed isobaric configuration. This arrangement handles low frequencies only and acts as an integral subwoofer system, the company says.
Fitted with single-wire binding posts, speaker sensitivity is rated at 86dB into 8ohm and the rear-firing low-Q port allows the small footprint cabinet to be placed close to walls. It’s available in three finishes including American walnut, black oak and satin white, and can be supplied with silver or black support feet with floor spikes. The Ekstra is expected to be available to buy in May for £2,999 and you can find out more about it here.
