Welcome to the April 2016 issue of Hi-Fi Choice – the essential guide to getting the best possible sound from your hi-fi, whether you're buying, tuning or tweaking...



As champions of all things vinyl – the format that despite mainstream belief never actually disappeared – Hi-Fi Choice has been supporting Record Store Day since its introduction in just a handful of UK independents. For those unfamiliar, the event was first started in the US in 2008 by a bunch of independent record stores looking for a way to reconnect customers with the joys of vinyl. The ethos is very much about bringing shop staff, customers and artists together to celebrate the unique role the record store plays in the community. This year’s celebrations held on 16 April look set to be the biggest yet with some 250 labels releasing limited editions and picture discs from artists including David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Metallica to name a few. As well as all the collectable releases, you can bet that there will be plenty of turntables launched to coincide with the day. With this in mind we have two turntable reviews this issue with Pro-Ject’s contemporary-styled RPM 9 Carbon deck, and the red-hot Edwards Audio TT2SE, both of which are great choices for spinning any Record Store Day buys.
