Ophidian’s compact M-Series is back for more
The M-Series 2 speakers take the same formula as the originals with a 27mm fabric dome tweeter from SEAS, Norway, but all three models now utilise a larger 115mm mid/bass driver up from the original 90mm.
The new driver utilises a coated paper cone with 65 percent greater surface area and features a 25mm four-layer voice coil that is kept cool by an aluminium former. A magnet and motor system coupled to the company’s Aeroflex bass loading topology allow the speakers to create what’s described by the company as: “truly room-filling sound that belies their compact size.”
The newly redesigned cabinets are built in Sheffield and now feature removable magnetic grilles for a cleaner front look. The £900 Minimo 2 retains the ability to wall mount for surround setups, yet is claimed to be able to remain capable of powering most living room setups.
The Mojo 2 standmount costs £1,200 and the Mambo 2 is £2,000. The latter floorstanding loudspeaker also features a hidden third bass driver that augments the output from the two front-mounted drivers. All three loudspeakers utilise crossover components produced by German manufacturer Mundorf.
All models come in a choice of either Oak or Walnut real wood veneer finishes. They are available to buy now and you can find out more about the M-Series 2 here.
