The former was born out of Pro-Ject’s desire to once again produce an affordable high-end turntable based on a transparent acrylic plinth, like the long-standing 6 Perspex and Perspective models that came before it. Key features include an acoustically inert transparent acrylic chassis, special damped height adjustable feet, a premium 10in aluminium tonearm with ultra-low friction Kardan four pin-point tonearm bearing assembly and pre-adjusted Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge installed. There’s also a precision-balanced 1.7kg aluminium main platter with TPE damping, a sub-platter system mounted into a stainless steel platter bearing with soft brass bushing and 0.001mm bearing tolerances. Speed control options include 33 and 45rpm, while a high-quality Connect it E Phono 5P RCA cable, protective dust cover and Record Puck E are bundled. Pro-Ject says the XA B is ready to be installed into any hi-fi system with a moving-magnet phono stage and will be sold exclusively through Sevenoaks Sound & Vision stores in the UK for £1,100.

The Debut EVO 2 replaces the Debut Carbon EVO (HFC 468) and draws on elements from the Debut PRO (HFC 487). Features include a new, pre-adjusted Pick it MM EVO cartridge made by Ortofon, 8.6in one-piece conical carbon fibre tonearm, a new low-friction, precision tonearm bearing in an aluminium block and updated non-magnetic aluminium platter with TPE damping. The motor suspension has better damping and the precision belt drive system has an electronic speed switch for 33/45rpm. There are height-adjustable metal feet, a new machined MDF chassis and it comes in a choice of 10 finishes, including eight-layer paint options or Walnut veneer. A premium semi-symmetrical Connect it E phono cable, felt mat and dust cover are included, and the RCA output connectors are gold-plated. The Debut EVO 2 is priced at £600.
