Available in a new walnut effect finish, the 50th anniversary Planar 3 is supplied with a Neo power supply unit MK2 hand-tuned to the motor to accurately set speed and minimise vibration while a handmade Exact moving-magnet cart comes factory fitted. The drive system uses the company’s reference drive belt and a custom CNC’d aluminium drive pulley (as used on the Planar 6, HFC 427). The Anniversary Edition is finished off with a custom aluminium lid, plinth badge and smoked dustcover.

Other features include an RB330 precision tonearm and 12mm float glass Opti-white platter. While the company is not limiting numbers of the Anniversary Edition, orders will cease to be taken after December at the end of this year.

Rega says the Anniversary Edition has been priced with a saving of £269 compared with purchasing a standard PL3 with Exact, reference drive belt and Neo PSU (“this price is the equivalent of getting the Neo PSU for free and small discount on the upgraded Reference drive belt!”).
