Welcome to the September issue
One of the greatest joys of being a hi-fi nut is the endlessly personal relationship we have with each purchase. We don’t just waltz into a shop, plonk down the plastic and sashay back out with the goods tucked under our arms, before lugging them home, plugging ‘em in and that’s that. There’s tons more fun – and frustrations – to be had.

There’s the selection process, the auditioning, the mix-and-matching with kit already acquired, then the unboxing, assembling and at last you’re ready to go. Except… where to place it? Sometimes it seems there are more questions than answers.

Not to worry. This month’s Beginner’s Guide is designed to take the stress out of deciding whether placing those brand spanking new loudspeakers a few centimetres to the right or left might make all the difference to your listening pleasure. You’ll find our sage advice on pages 76 and 77.
