Sony makes a splash with ULT Power Sound series

Sony has announced the launch of its ULT Power Sound series – a new collection of wireless speakers and headphones. The range consists of three wireless speakers: the ULT Tower 10, ULT Field 7 and ULT Field 1 – plus the wireless headphones ULT Wear. All models in the series include a ULT button, providing signature sound quality by enhancing the music with one or two sound modes.

The company describes the ULT TOWER 10 thus: “Turn your home into party central with massive bass, 360° Party Sound, 360° Party Light and karaoke, thanks to a supplied wireless mic. You can even connect the speaker to your TV to boost the sound of the things you love to watch.” It features two different types of bass-emphasised sound modes with the ULT button providing: “deep bass boost for low-frequency sound that will make your heart tremble with ULT1,” while ULT2: “delivers powerful bass to feel the beat and get you dancing”.

The company says its Sound Field Optimization detects noise and automatically changes the sound setting to deliver clear music even when you are surrounded by other sounds while the 360° Party Sound and 360° Party Light “carries powerful sound and brightness to every corner of the room, synchronising with the music to create a true festival feeling”.

Karaoke, Guitar and TV Sound Boosters come with a wireless mic, while Echo and Key Controls can be found on the top panel. You can plug in another microphone for a duet or a guitar to play along using the ULT Tower 10 as an amp. TV Sound Booster enhances the sound from what you’re watching on your TV.

Party Connect enables up to 100 compatible speakers to link up and synchronise music and lighting for the ultimate rave up.

The ULT Field 7 “lets you take the party anywhere,” you could possibly want, thanks to its waterproof and dustproof construction and claimed 30-hour battery life with quick charging offering up an additional three hours of playing time in just 10 minutes. It enables connection to a mic for karaoke on the go and comes with carry handles. It’s designed to work positioned either horizontally or vertically.

The ULT Field 1 is designed to be portable with up to 12 hours of battery life. It comes with a multi-way strap and an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating. Like the 7, it is designed to work whether it is stood on its end or laid on its side and connects with a built-in mic for hands-free calling with Echo Cancelling technology for clearer calls.

The ULT Wear headphones feature the ULT button for the two different aforementioned bass modes, which are powered by Sony’s Integrated Processor V1 – also found in Sony’s 1000X series headphones – plus a driver unit especially designed for the ULT Power Sound series.

It features noise cancelling and soft earpads in a foldable design and comes with a carry case. A sensor pauses your music when you take them off and starts again when you put them back on. Bluetooth pairs with two devices at the same time.

Prices are as follows: the ULT Tower 10 and ULT Field 7 are both available in Black for £1,000 and £400 respectively. The ULT Field 1 comes in Black, Forest Grey, Off White and Orange for £120. The ULT Wear headphones are available in Black, Forest Grey and White for £180.
