Wilson Audio introduces Alida CSC speaker and Submerge Active sub
Designed to offer the timbral neutrality, dynamic response, soundstage depth and comparable transparency of the company’s floorstanders, it includes Dolby Atmos and comes with a ceiling mount option. Wilson says the Alida CSC’s new mounting bracket provides up to 30° of rotation allowing for extreme adaptability especially in the most challenging installations. The company offers flexibility with connection choices by allowing the use of spade or banana plug speaker cables. The Alida CSC is priced at £19,000 per pair.
Wilson Audio's Submerge Active subwoofer is supported by a sophisticated and custom-tuned DSP and a built-in amplifier which provides a claimed 1,600W of power to control the dual-spider 305mm bass driver. Front-facing analogue controls are found on a machined plate, which aid adjusting gain and delay. Wilson allows for balanced and unbalanced left/mono and right inputs, accommodating various audio setups and sources. In addition, the DSP can be bypassed entirely.
The 1,600W amplifier is uniquely mounted to the heatsink plate found on the rear of the enclosure. The company says that coupling the amplifier to the T6061 aluminium back plate: “efficiently transfers heat from the internal components of the amplifier to the decorative heatsink fins, the design of which is inspired by the mountain ranges surrounding Wilson Audio.” The handcrafted front grille can be removed to expose the aluminium baffle design. The Submerge Active boasts a 5Hz to 500Hz frequency response and is priced at £32,000.
