Vifa introduces new Oslo loudspeaker

Danish loudspeaker designer Vifa has unveiled its latest product, a portable Bluetooth speaker with a distinctly Scandinavian flavour. Constructed from a single-piece of diecast aluminium (dimensions 181 x 268 x 90mm – wxhxd), the Oslo generates its sound from a pair of 50mm full-range drivers with aluminium cones and neodymium magnets alongside a pair of 65mm woofer drivers with flat sandwich core and neodymium magnets. The woofers are mechanically mounted back to back in a force balanced configuration supported by a brace of passive radiators.

There's a 3.5mm aux mini jack input, while wireless hookup comes in the shape of aptX Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The portable speaker comes supplied with a wall adaptor plug for connection to the mains and also has a Lithium-ion battery for music on the move. It has a claimed frequncy response of 55Hz-18kHz, weighs in at 2.4kg and is available in a choice of  Pebble Grey, Anthracite Grey, Sand Yellow, Ocean Blue and Ice Blue finishes.

“The challenge with Oslo was to create a product that produces a powerful, potent reproduction of music and yet has that understated, elegant design fitting into any interior. Since music today is mobile, we wanted an agile product you can easily move around in your home. Therefore we went for the upright lines, allowing for a small footprint. This means Oslo takes up little space – but still has the physics for a full-bodied reproduction of music at impressive playback volume,” explains Chief Design Engineer Mikael Ankersen.

The fourth wireless loudspeaker launched by Vifa in only three years, Oslo is available to buy now for £399. You can find out more about it here and check out our review in HFC 413, on sale 14 July.
