Pioneer’s new XDP-30R portable music player
Following the popularity of its XDP-100R (HFC 413), Pioneer has announced its latest digital audio player. The XDP-30R boasts a lightweight aluminium chassis with twin Sabre ES9018C2M DACs alongside ESS9601K amplifiers arranged in a symmetrical layout under the hood and supports 32-bit/192kHz PCM and DSD files up to 5.6MHz. Meanwhile, support for MQA will become available later in the year via a firmware update.
Weighing in at just 120g, the XDP-30R has a scratch-resistant 2.4in touchscreen and potential 416GB storage (including utilising the expandable memory). There’s a 3.5mm headphone output along with a 2.5mm 4-pole jack for balanced output, while the knurled volume control of the XDP-100R is retained. Dual wi-fi enables users to stream from built-in services like Tidal and TuneIn, while Bluetooth is also onhand to cast to a compatible home or car audio system. Available in black or silver, the XDP-30R has a claimed battery life of up to 15 hours. Available this month for £350, you can find out more about the XDP-30R here.
