June issue now on sale
I was scanning the stunning lineup for the UK Hi-Fi Show Live at Ascot Racecourse on 10 and 11 September when it occurred to me I don’t know what you call a gathering of audiophiles. Y’know, like there’s a murder of crows, a school of whales and a deceit of MPs. I made up that last one, but you get the picture.
So, I did a bit of online scrolling in search of our collective noun and discovered… there isn’t one. Which, of course, is totally unacceptable. If clowns can have one (a shudder) and aardvarks (an armoury), barbers (a babble) and ghosts (a fright), we hi-fi nuts must surely warrant our own. And that’s where you come in. If you fancy inventing us our very own collective noun (a ???? of audiophiles), email: [email protected], and the one we’re most taken with will win a pair of complementary tickets to the aforementioned Ascot shindig.
In the meantime, inside this issue you’ll find the history of LP covers, a bumper 16-page Audiofile section featuring tons of new product releases and a stupendous (faux collective noun alert!) of affordable standmount speakers in our Group Test.
Remember to keep an eye here for updates on September’s UK Hi-Fi Show Live event and for more details and ticket info next month.
Plenty to enjoy, then!
