Monitor Audio unveils Hyphn loudspeaker
The six 50mm midrange drivers feature Monitor Audio’s Rigid Diaphragm Technology III (RDT III) cones, which were first introduced last year. The M-Array is located squarely between Hyphn’s twin pillars, each of which houses a pair of 203mm bass drivers, facing inwards, in a force-cancelling configuration – which Monitor Audio claims results in: “almost no vibration force from the drivers, either within themselves or being passed into the cabinet”. Large diameter under hung voice coils are used in a bid to reduce harmonic distortion for high-impact bass performance.
The cabinet is constructed in thermoformed, precision-milled mineral and acrylic stone to create a rigid structure. With built-in formed, port tubes, strengthening ribs and bracing, boasting internal and external wall thickness of 13mm up to 25mm for bracing around the force-cancelling bass drivers, Monitor Audio claims the cabinet is almost completely vibration free.
With a claimed sensitivity of 85dB into 4ohm loads, Hyphn comes in a choice of three finishes: Pure Satin White, Matte Black and Matte Heritage Green.
Available to buy now for £70,000, you can find out more about the Monitor Audio Hyphn here.
