Piega delivers Ace loudspeaker series

With an aesthetic conjured up by designer Stephan Hürlemann and acoustics developed at Piega’s Lake Zurich factory, the Ace series marks the Swiss company’s most affordable aluminium cabinet speakers to date. Drawing on technology and acoustic development trickled down from its Master, Coax and Premium models, the Ace replaces the Tmicro series.

All of the Ace cabinets boast a 14cm-wide and 16cm-deep oval aluminium profile, with no visible seams, angles or fixings specially developed and optimised for the 120mm MDS mid/bass drivers that are utilised in all three models.

Similarly, Piega’s AMT-1 Air Motion Transformer is employed across the range. A light, large surface area ribbon tweeter, it’s driven by a neodymium motor assembly.

The new series consists of the Ace 30, a bookshelf speaker which is the smallest in the Piega portfolio – its baffle measuring the same as an A5 sheet of paper. It features the aforementioned 120mm MDS low-frequency driver and AMT-1 tweeter in its small volume enclosure and the company claims it’s best suited for: “listening in smaller rooms, with or without a subwoofer, or for more discreet sound in larger area living rooms.” The Ace 30 will set you back £980.

Next up is the Ace 50, a slim, 1m-tall floorstander with a round plinth, to incorporate three of the 120mm MDS drivers and the same tweeter as its standmount sibling. This three-way design uses two of the drivers for low frequencies, with a single unit dedicated to producing the midrange. The result, the company claims is: “a powerful and engaging loudspeaker, with considerably lower low-frequency extension and higher power handling than the outgoing Tmicro60 model”, making it suitable for medium to large living spaces. The Ace 50 comes in at £1,980.

For those looking to incorporate their Piega speakers into a traditional home cinema setup, the Ace Center will retail at £590.

All three Ace series models are available now in a choice of finishes – natural aluminium with grey fabric grille, anodised black with black grille or high gloss white with white grille and you can find out more about them here.
