PSB unveils M4U 9 and M4U TWM headphones and in-ears
The M4U 9 is a wireless active noise-cancelling over-ear implementing new graphene-infused drivers, which PSB says improve damping, stiffness and efficiency. It boasts aptX Adaptive Bluetooth and utilises four digital MEMS microphones for its active noise cancelling. A three-position mode switch allows users to choose between ANC with RoomFeel, Active with RoomFeel or a Passive mode. Gyro-suspended, fabric and leatherette earpads tilted at 15° provide seal and comfort for up to 25 hours listening in Active Mode. It is priced at £450.
The M4U TWM in-earbuds leverage Magneto-Static technology in a Hybrid Planar dual-driver design, utilising the same technology found in high-end magneto speakers. The buds feature dedicated transducers – one for high and one for low frequencies and support the aptX Adaptive Bluetooth codec. Other features include hard click buttons on both earphones for music control and hands-free voice calls, while a smart USB-C charging case delivers a claimed maximum of 32 hours of extended play time (eight hours out of the case and three additional charge cycles in the case). It’s priced at £200.
The aforementioned Audiodo Personal Sound technology comes with both models. The technology uses a non-replicable set of algorithms, which allows listeners to calibrate their headphones in a way that accommodates for the listening qualities of their left and right ears independently. After completing a quick hearing assessment accessed through the PSB Headphones app, Audiodo Personal Sound maps out a precise understanding of the listener’s hearing, calculates what changes need to be made based on personal sound perception, and formulates a compensation curve for the listener that can be applied to the overall headphone sound.
Meanwhile, PSB’s proprietary RoomFeel technology mimics the experience of listening to a pair of high-quality, full-range speakers properly set up in a good room making the music feel less ‘in the head’ by recreating an open and natural in-room listening experience through the M4U headphones.
All settings, including Audiodo Personal Sound tests and Transparency modes, are accessed centrally through the PSB Headphones app, which allows users to adjust settings, check battery levels and optimise their headphone functionality with the latest firmware updates.
The M4U 9 and M4U TWM are available to buy any day now and you can find out more about them here.
