Ruark unveils R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers

British company Ruark Audio has announced the return of one of its original loudspeakers plus its first ever music console. The company says the R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers: “revive the stereo concept as a complete music system for the modern era… evoking the stereo music centres of the Seventies and echoing the rest of Ruark’s 100 Series lineup, the R610 Music Console and Sabre-R Bookshelf Speakers bring timeless style to any interior space.”

With tactile soft-touch buttons, a precisely weighted control dial and Bluetooth remote control, operating the R610 is a completely intuitive experience, while a crisp colour screen displays custom and album/station artwork.

Powering the music console is a switch-mode power supply with audio-grade components used throughout, including Burr-Brown DACs, it claims a nominal output of 75W per channel.

Equipped with what Ruark says is a: “powerful CPU”, the R610 can decode a variety of audio streams and Internet Radio, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast are all built in. There’s also a phono preamp so users can connect a turntable, while Ruark’s soon-to-be launched CD Drive can be hooked up via the USB socket on the rear panel. This CD Drive will also be compatible with the company’s R410 and R810. An HDMI ARC/eARC is included for connection to a TV screen. The unit measures 300 x 95 x 280mm (WxHxD), weighs 4.1kg and comes in a choice of Fused Walnut and Satin Charcoal lacquer finishes. It’s priced at £1,200.

Meanwhile, the two-way Sabre-R speakers come in a braced and damped MDF cabinet with a 26mm silk dome tweeter, tuned bass reflex and neodymium motor system. The mid/bass driver is a 150mm treated natural fibre cone with a 30mm 4-layer voice coil and long-throw motor. The Sabre-R boasts nominal impedance of 6ohm. There are gold-plated bi-wire binding posts around the back plus a removable magnetic grille. The cabinets weigh 5kg each, measure 175 x 290 x 215mm (WxHxD) and are available in the same finishes as the R610, priced at £700 per pair.

Customers can choose to purchase the R610 Music Console and the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers together as a complete system. Alternatively, both units can be purchased individually for use with other suitable amplifiers or speakers.
