VPI Industries introduces new Prime 21 turntables
A step up from the outgoing Prime predecessor, the new models boast a redesign of the deck and upgrades to the components. A new aluminium top plate braces the chassis to deaden any unwanted resonance while a high-mass aluminium casework to the motor aims to improve the damping for a steadier performance. An all-new 3D-printed tonearm is pre-mounted and the unipivot of earlier Prime models has been replaced by an updated gimbal system. The isolation feet are the same as those in VPI’s anniversary edition HW40 turntable (RRP £15,000).
The upgrade Prime 21+ model features a VPI Shyla cartridge (custom made by Audio-Technica) and VPI Weisline tonearm cable (manufactured by Nordost), to give a superior performance. Both models come in textured black or walnut finish – the 21 priced at £4,500, the 21+ at £6,500. Available to buy now, you can find out more about the new turntables here.
